Ph.D. Doctorate Degree Awarded to the Thesis of G.P. Kusuma

RESEARCH IS THE WAY OF FINDING ANSWER TO A QUESTION: DR. REKHA BANNADI

Mumbai, March 22: The Mumbai University has awarded Ph.D. Doctorate degree to poetess G.P. Kusuma, ex editor of Mogaveer’s magazine for the thesis “Mogaveer community in Mumbai - a cultural research” which was submitted by her under the guidance of Dr. G.N. Upadhya, Head of the Kannada Department of Mumbai University.

G.P. Kusuma has submitted her thesis publicly during the convocation function held under the presidentship of Dr. G.N. Upadhya on Monday morning at Ranade Bhavan of Mumbai University at Kalina Campus of Santacruz (E). After the audience expressed their opinions, Dr. RekhaBannadi, the Head of the Kannada Department of Bandarkars College, Kundapur presented certificate, gold medal and doctorate degree to G.P. Kusuma.

Rekha Bannadi said, “Poverty, increase in population, unemployment problems, etc. have encouraged the out-state Kannadigas to attain achievements. Wishes, regional expansion, new life style of people here, etc. have become guiding forces and inspired for research. Explanation by Kusuma regarding the principle of the thesis is highly appreciable. Mogaveers are the motivators of co-existence. Efforts will have respect and honour if it creates social thinking in the minds of the people. Mogaveers have attained greater achievements. Though earning by women is rare, Mogaveer women are leading in getting leadership. Research is dynamic and it is the way of finding answer to the question. It is the process of human development and this research contains the overview of ups and downs of Mogaveers, their discrimination, achievements, etc.”

The renowned writer Dr. Jothsna Kamath, Bengaluru opined, “Mogaveer women lead their life in conflict and are facing everything boldly. They follow and retain their traditional culture and also show their strength and power and have their own pride and special honour”.

“This is the 5th free vocal testing process of our department.This is an overview of the ups and downs of Mogaveers. This research contains the discrimination of migrant Mogaveers and people who attained greater achievements in Mumbai have been recognized. They have proved that their community shows secular attitude and their contributions to Mumbai are highly commendable”, said Dr. G.N. Upadhya.

The President of Mogaveer Management Board – Ajit G Suvarna, adv. G.K. Karkera, President of Kannadiga Patrakarthara Sangha Maharashtra – Chandrashekhar Palethadi, Editor of Mogaveer magazine – Ashok S Suvarna, G.K. Karkera, Narayana Bangera Dombivili, Sadananda K Uchila, Harish K Hejamadi, and Srinivasa Jokatte have expressed their opinions during this occasion and congratulated G.P. Kusuma.

Arun Kumar, Sanjeeva Kanchan, B S Kurkal, Dr. B. Leela, S.K. Sundar, Suresh Kundar, Master Arth S Kundar, Santhosh Mogaveer, Dr. Sushma Aroor, K.P. Mendon, Raghunath B Kundar, H.S. Uchil, Shakunthala Mendon, Dr. Jayashri Salian, Jyothishree I Deshpande, Rupa Sangoli and others dignitaries were present and congratulated Kusuma for her achievement. The Assistant Prof. of Kannada Department – Dr. Poornima S Shetty welcomed the gathering and presented the programme and proposed the vote of thanks.
