Mumbai, March 23: “I am not interested in awards and I think respect towards valuable literature is a real award. Creativity is a thing that is formed when our feelings form a definite shape. Writings become successful when readers appreciate them. The collective admiration from the readers is the first award to a novel. This award which is named after Brahmashri Narayana Guru is a great award to me” said Mitra Venkatraj, the famous Kannada writer of Mumbai city.
On Tuesday, after receiving “Shri Guru Narayana literature Award 2016” Mitra Venkatraj said these words at the awarding function of Akshaya Monthly sponsored by former chief Editor M B Kukyan. The programme was organized at Brahmashri Narayana Guru Auditorium of Billawa Bhawan, Santacruze (E).
Jaya C Suvarna-the executive president of Billawara Maha Mandala and the president of Bharath Bank inaugurated the function by lighting the lamp. The president of the association and Editor of the “Akshaya”, Nithyananda D Kotian presided over the function. During this occasion senior writer and critic, Dr Vishvanath Karnad and Chandrashekhar Palethady-the president of Kannadiga journalists association Maharashtra were present. Mitra Venkatraj along with her spouse Venkatraj Kundapur, were honored with a cash prize of Rs. 25,000/-, a memento and a certificate.
“I will receive this award with respectfully and convey my gratitude to the organizers and the sponsors. I accept this award as a token of love and respect from my readers” said Mitra Venkatraj.
Dr.Vishvanath Karnad, Dr. Sunitha Shetty and Nithyananda Kotian expressed their views. The vice presidents of the association Bhaskar V Bangera, Shankara D Pujary, Dr U Dhananjaya Kumar, Mahesh C Karkala, and Shakunthala K Kotian were present at the dais.
Dharmesh Salian, Kusuma C Pujary, Sathish N Bangera, Santhosh K Pujary, Mamatha R Naik, of “Akshaya Monthly” were present. Dharmapal G Anchan welcomed all. Swathi Mulya, Yashoda Nayak and Jyothi Suvarna and group sang the prayer. Ishwar Aleyuru-the Editor of the Akshaya introduced the guests and read the message from M B Kukyan. Dharmesh Salian conducted the cultural programme. The Asst. Editor Harish K Hejmady compered the programme and read the certificate. Jayaram G Kukyan proposed the vote of thanks. Children exhibited dance and cultural programme. “Mayakada Mani” a mythological play was performed by committee members from Bhiwandi.
