‘Sophiya’ in Sharjah Super Successful House Full Show – Inaugurated By Rev. Fr. Maxim

‘Sophiya’ Super Hit Konkani Movie which concluded successful houseful shows in Dubai & Abu Dhabi witnessed one more houseful Show in Sharjah on Friday the 2nd February, 2018 at 4 pm. Konkani movie lovers flocked in to the Theatre well in advance to grab the seats. It was a total festive mood in Mega Mall.

It was a fantastic response from Konkani audience in Novo Cinemas – Mega Mall, Sharjah and the inauguration was held around 3.45 pm with MC Uttam Menezes welcoming the audience and the Guests. He briefed of the success of SOPHIYA wherever it was released and thanked Konkani movie fans for making it happen.

He then invited Ref. Fr. Maxim Pinto of Sharjah Church, Rev. Fr. Charles who was in a visit, Patron of Kannadigas in Sharjah Mark Denis, Singer, Actor & Philanthropist Joseph Mathias, Adrian Melroy & Shodhan Prasad. He later requested Producer Janet Noronha to welcome the guests with flower presentation.

Rev. Fr. Maxim Pinto in his inaugural speech briefed on the event and said that anyone coming forward and taking initiative in serving our language must be supported and honoured. Today Janet Noronha has taken this bold step with this venture, thus giving an entertainment opportunity for our Konkani Community, he added. He then thanked her and also thanked all those who were responsible in this venture to bring this movie to the gulf especially for us. He then shared some lighter moments remembering Ester Nite in Don Bosco Hall few years ago where he was also part of the event.

Later Mark Denis who is a strong supporter of Konkani spoke few words and briefed that people from Konkani Community should be proud of themselves as their language being a minority language is being recognized and included in 8th Schedule of the Indian Constitution while other languages like Tulu, Beary, Kodava is still trying to be there. He also shared the difficulties in making movie for the entertainment of our Community and that members of the community only have to come forward and support so that more Producers will come forward in taking risks for their community.

Fr. Maxim rendered prayer and blessed the event. In his prayer he also mentioned that all those supported in this venture be blessed to do more for the society.

Finally Uttam Menezes, thanked all those who supported the release of SOPHIYA in Sharjah and the movie opened up with a cheer.

After the show all the Audience gathered outside the Theatre premises and sharing their views until late evening. All of them thanked Producer Janet Noronha for producing such a beautiful movie and said they expect more in the future.

Overall SOPHIYA enjoyed super success in whole of UAE and still has demand for more shows. SOPHIYA is marching ahead to other neighbouring Gulf States soon, said Producer Janet Noronha who is happy with the public response for her first ever movie. Her interest to Produce another movie has boosted with this positive response.

Plans are there to host one show in Mussafah and one show in Al Ain as the Konkani Church Group Leaders in these areas are approaching the distributors continuously. Dates of these shows are not yet finalized and will be done once Theaters are available.
