‘SAHITYA VEDIKE’ CONTEMPORARY LITERATURE OCCASION CONDUCTED AT MATUNGA

Mumbai, January 03: The Kendra Sahitya Academy, New-Delhi, Kannada Department of Mumbai University, Karnataka Sangha Mumbai and Mysore Association Mumbai together conducted “Sahitya Vedike” Contemporary literature occasion on Saturday evening at the auditorium of Mysore Association at Matunga (East). 

Dr. H.S. Raghavendra Rao, Feminist thinker Dr. M.S. Ashadevi were present and delivered lecture on the subject “contemporary literature occasion”. The Regional Secretary of the Sahitya Academy Bengaluru - S.P.Mahalingeshwar, President of Mysore Association – K. Kamala, Secretary of Sadananda Suvarna Cultural Foundation - S.K.Sundar, Dr. Jyothi Sathish and K. Shivaraj were present on the dais. Dr. H.S. Raghavendra inaugurated Dr. Shivarama Karant’s Trust programme which was given by the senior theater expert Sadananda Suvarna, by lighting the lamp.

 

“Tears are the real words of women. This stage that recalls feminism makes women more experienced. Every one should know the concept of women’s personality. When we talk about character, it should be considered equal for men and women. We can develop respect towards women if we see them with great dignity”, said Dr. M.S.Ashadevi.

Dr. G.N. Upadhya, the Head of the Kannada Department of Mumbai University welcomed the gathering and in his introductory speech he said, “Several institutions are actively engaged in the work of Kannada at Mumbai. We have lots of Kannada institutions here in Mumbai, nowhere else in the world. All these institutions have attained greater achievements and have retained the existence of Kannada. The Kannada Department provides knowledge about Kannada not only to the students but also tries to spread the services of Kannadambe to all Kannadigas”. He also said that Karanth was popular among Marathi people.

The Sahitya Academy conducted book exhibition and the journalist Shekar Ajekaru Moodabidre exhibited the life-biography of Chithala. Shyamala Radhesh entertained the audience through songs. Dr. Poornima S. Shetty conducted the programme. P. Chandrika Bengaluru introduced the lecturers to the audience and Narayana Navilekar proposed the vote of thanks.
