Mumbai, January 30: This is the first time the Konkan Publication- a renowned name in the social and cultural field has shown its interest in the field of theatre. The first show of Konkani play “Bostu”, written by Leo Fernandis (Jerimari) Ujire, was displayed on Sunday evening at Pallotti church ground, Marol Vijaya Nagar, Andheri (E). Parish priest Rev.Fr.Nelson Saldana inaugurated the show by lighting the lamp and said “Let this Konkani drama win the spotlight and inspire peace and happiness in the society and complete 100 shows”.
The executive president of Aldale Education Trust and Model bank-Albert D’souza was present as the chief guest of the prograam. He said “I am grateful to Konkani people for providing me an opportunity to participate in this programme of my mother language. We should use our mother language every now and then. From the beginning, I was interested in social service. Social service is the replica of clarity. Our life will become valuable by sharing our knowledge”.
In the stage programme, Karnataka Konkani Sahithya Academy awardee, actor Francis Fernandez Cassia, Antony Sequeira- the executive president of Christian Chamber of Commerce and Industries, industrialist Walter D’souza Kalmady, Arun Sequeira, Benedicta B Rebello, Everest Pais, Paul Mascarenhas were present. The supporter of art John Sequeira and Arsula J Sequeira were honored by Albert W D’souza and industrialist Rony G Govias. Cyril Castelino introduced the awardees.
Joyce D’souza, Janis D’souza and Marita D’souza exhibited the dance. Anjali Dalwady and group performed the Whistle Maar dance. Levin L Fernandis welcomed all. Lilly Fernandis, Leron L Fernandis and Rosy D’souza honored the guests with bouquets. Steevan Lobo compered the programme and proposed the vote of thanks.
The drama “Bostu” written by Leo Fernandez, directed by Lawrence D’souza Kamani was successfully displayed. William Machado, Lancy D’souza, Arun Noronha, Jenitha D’souza, Helen Noronha, Lavina D’souza, Peter Rebero, william D’souza, George Sequeira acted in the drama and appreciated by the public. Anantha Ammembala and Kevin D’souza assisted in music.
