Mumbai, Jan. 17: The women wing of Billawa Association, Mumbai Celebrated the annual Makara Sankramana traditionally along with Haldi-Kumkum program on Sunday afternoon, at Billawa Bhavan, Santacruz(E).
Initially the office bearers of the women wing performed pooja to Lord Brahmashri Narayana Guru at the Bhavan. Later Shakuntala K. Kotian- president of women wing initiated the Makara Sankramana program. Nithyananda D. Kotian- president of the association, lit the lamp and inaugurated the Haldi-Kumkum program.
Veena Vishwanath Poojary- president of women wing of Shani Mandir, Nerul, was present as the chief guest. Dr. Adithi Agarwal, Madhava I. L.- senior officer of wockhardt hospital, Mira Road and Yashodha N. T. Poojary- social worker were the guests of honor, Purushotama S. Kotian- vice president of the association and Mahesh C. Karkala- hon. Gen. treasurer, Vilasini K. Salian, Jayanthi V. Ullal- former president were present on the dais.
Prayer was sung by Sumalatha V. Amin, Pooja P. Kotian, Girija Chandrashekar and team. Jayanthi S. Kotian and Vanitha A. Kukyan introduced the guests. Hon. Gen. Secretary- Sumitra S. Bangera compered the program. Lakshmi S. Poojary- joint secretary- proposed the vote of thanks. Women office bearers who celebrated Haldi-Kumkum were also present.
Prabha K. Bangera- vice president of women wing, Dr. Geethanjali L. Salian- joint secretary, the members- Chandrakala R. Suvarna, Sabitha Poojary, Girija B. Poojary, Vatsala K. Poojary, Leela D. Poojary, special invitees- Shobha S. Poojary, Prema R. Kotian, Bhavani C. Kotian, Vanitha A. Kukyan, Prabha Suvarna, Rekha S. Poojary, Heera D. Kotian, Sudha L. Amin, Savitha Gangadhar Poojary, Dayashree Surendra Poojary were present at the occasion. Hundreds of ladies took part in the celebration and women office bearers offered Bagina to ladies and traditionally celebrated the sacred Makara Sankramana.
