Mumbai, (The Hindu): Shiv Sena activists protested outside the office of airport operator GVK at Terminal 1 on Wednesday demanding that the word ‘Maharaj’ be added to the name of the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport.

Anil Parab, a member of the State Legislative Council, said, “A resolution in the Assembly has recommended adding Maharaj to the name, but GVK has not yet effected the changes.” Mr. Parab said the Sena has been putting forward the demand for the past four years.

He said, “It appears that GVK has no respect for Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. We will shut down the airport if our demands are not met.”
