Kashmir to Kanyakumari - Swachh Bharat Tour de Rotary

Mumbai, 26 November 2016- Kashmir to Kanyakumari Swachh Bharat Tour de Rotary is being conducted by Rotary Club of Madras Mid-town, RI Dist. 3230. This Rally is to promote 100 years of good work done by The Rotary Foundation and to raise Funds for its Humanitarian Service projects including Clean and Green India projects. What started on the 7th of November, 22 cyclists are currently en-route looking to cover the 4500 Kms, in 33 days, with 27 Flag-off points. Having started from Jammu, they have traveled through Delhi, Jaipur, and Gandhinagar among others and will reach Kanyakumari on the 9th December, 2016.

The rally made their pit stop in Mumbai from Vapi, followed by a flag-off event today from The Gateway of India. Flag offs were done by VIPs including BMC Commissioner and District Governor of RID 3141 (Mumbai Revenue district), Rotarian Gopal Rai Mandhania. Ministry of Urban Development, Govt. of India along with Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai and Rotary District 3141 are supporting this event to create awareness on Swachh Bharat.

Rotary district 3141 (Mumbai Revenue district), is already carrying out various cleanliness drives such as providing clean toilets at railway stations and expressways and beautification of railway platforms etc. apart from other thrust areas of Mega Diabetes Treatment and Prevention Camps (100000 people), Pediatric Heart Surgeries (500 children), Adoption of over 30 Railway Stations, Organ Donation Drives (10000 people) in addition to Mega Medical Camps for the under privileged, Painting completion promoting art & culture (over 40000 students).
