Lions clubs International is celebrating it's centennial- 100 years of Service to Needy across the Globe

Mumbai: District Chairpersons' Symposium & Preliminary Dist. Cabinet meet today saw a Rare combination of Alliance & Strong Pact between Government of Maharashtra & World's no 1 NGO Lions Clubs International with its District 323A2, as the Chief Guest of the event for the event was Shri Swadheen Kshatriya, Chief Secretary, Govt. of India. at four points Navi Mumbai.

"Lions clubs International is celebrating it's centennial- 100 years of Service to Needy across the Globe, Initiative to Serve 100 Million People by 2017" Said Keynote Speaker, Ln Narendra Bhandari, Past Intl Director. He further spoke about various projects Torch Rally through out Maharastra & thereby India, 100 thousand toilets in slum areas & villages, girl schools specially, empowering youth by youth vocational trainings',cultural exchange, Lions Quest for schools nearly for 200 thousand children, he stated in Hyderabad already Lions have relieve the hunger - served food for 10 lacs people already, in Maharastra, by joining Akshaya Patra, Midday Meal to poor students. Self Defense for Women. By 2018' LCIF will plan/design long term projects for 10, 20, 30 years

Dist. Governor Elect,Ln Subhash Bhalwal, also said State Bank of India Has tied up with LCIF, to fund/loans for Medical Equipments, already sanctioned 3 crores till now.

He further said Chif Guest,Shri Swadheen Kshatriya, Chief Secretary, Govt. of Maharashtra and senior most Civil Service IAS officer in Maharashtra, will brief us on the imp and relevant issues in Maharashtra, wherein LCIF can partner in service for a cause.

Mr Swadheen, highlighted on the budget Govt. has set for 100 crores for Anganwadi, 20 crores for 'Jalyukta Shivar Scheme', 970 crore for National Health. He further said Maharashtra is facing biggest problem Drought wherein farmers are effect the most. he said it is not only in Maharashtra but all over India like Uttar Pradesh, even in Northern Karnataka, wherein PM, Mr Narendra Modi has help meetings in every state. Mr Swadheen, who initiated VAT, Value Added Tax, also said this year's forecast on Rains is 128% more, hence Govt with NGO Like LCIF can work together for solving Drought problems by Rain Harvesting etc.

Ln Hanuman Agarwal, VDG1 Elect, Ln K J paul, VDG2 Elect, Cabinet sec Ln Mukesh Taneja, Ln Rakesh Chaumal, Sight First, Ln Maneshwar Nayak, Activities, Ls Ujwala Khobrekar, DP Designate and other dignitaries, including Ln Chandrahas Shetty DG Elect from Pune, District 323 D2, who has adopted LIONS SMART VILLAGE, and Ln Narendra Bhandari, PID said, they will also partner in service with Govt. for Farmer's drought problem, and do their bit for the same.

Mr Swadheen, was appointed to organize PM, Mr Narendra Modi's pet project "MAKE IN INDIA",in Maharastra by the Government. further said, Maharashtra has 43000 villages out of which 28000 villages are drought hit, has 36 Districts of which 11 district's situation is very bad. To solve Farmer's problem, Govt. is giving Wheat at Rs.2 per KG, and Rice at Rs.3 per kg. created nearly 570000 jobs for these farmers, who had a bad crop due to drought, Govt even reduced Mehsool - Lagaan by 33% less. Even Loan they could not pay was restructured so that there will be Suicide cases for farmers.


he said some state like Ahmednagar are solving the problem with Initiation by Anna Hazare like rain harvesting for drought.Also talked about soil conservation.

He said NGO like LCIF can join in E Library which is already done in Nagpur by CM, Mr Devendra Fadnavis.

The session ended with a discussion on Toilets for Adivasi areas, Detection of leprosy, mental Health, Swachha Bharat Abhiyan, with Govt. helping in technical, and identification of villages for adoption with LCIF joining the projects for cause.
