Sena leader shot dead in Malad

Mumbai, (The Hindu): In the third attack against Shiv Sena leaders in the last two months, the party’s local leader Sachin Sawant from Kurar, Malad, was shot by unidentified assailants on Sunday night.

He was rushed to Shatabdi Hospital in Kandivali around 8.20 pm., where he was declared dead, doctors said. He was shot in the chest.

His post mortem will be conducted at Bhagwati Hospital in Borivali.

Sawant was the former deputy branch head of the Sena from Kurar. According to sources, he had faced a similar attack in 2009 as well.

This is the third incident in recent months where Sena leaders were targeted. Two weeks ago, two Sena leaders were shot dead in Ahmednagar, while in January, Sena leader Ashok Sawant was shot dead in Kandivali.
