Parents of 1 to 5 year old kids turned up in large numbers to attend the ‘Child & Parenting’ event held on Friday, 18th December 2015 at Thumbay Hospital Dubai, conducted by HEALTH magazine, the premier health & lifestyle publication of Thumbay Group – UAE.
Ms. Saadiya Ahmed, Editor of HEALTH magazine welcomed the gathering. The event was organized with the aim of helping parents understand their children better, and to empower them with parenting tips and techniques to tackle the challenges of childrearing. The event also featured special sessions on kids’ oral hygiene and dental care.

The highlight of the event were the expert presentations on childcare, oral hygiene and dental care, by leading doctors. The first presentation, ‘A general introduction to childcare’ was by Dr. Arun. S. Shikaripur (Specialist Pediatrician, Thumbay Hospital – Dubai), wherein he outlined the social, linguistic, cognitive and physical development of children, and provided parenting tips and dietary advices. Dr. Dr. Anukriti Pathak’s (Specialist Pediatric Dentist, Thumbay Hospital – Dubai) session ‘Healthy Smiles: Bottle it up – Take a cup) followed, and she elaborated on the nature, causes, prevention and consequences of Early Childhood Caries (ECC) or baby bottle tooth decay, a common bacterial infection found in infants and young children all over the world. The final session, ‘Catch them young and watch them grow’ by Dr. Amrita Deshpande (Specialist Periodontist, Thumbay Hospital – Dubai) was a comprehensive presentation on all aspects of kids’ oral hygiene.

Participants received a wealth of information from the expert presentations and had all their parenting, childcare and dental care questions answered during the Q&A session. They also took part in post-session quiz competitions.

The participants commended HEALTH magazine for delivering the highly informative program through a simple, fun-filled format. They also expressed their gratitude for the invaluable parenting tips. Free goody bags were handed out to participants at the end of the program.Prizes were also given away to the winners of the quiz contest and raffle draw by Dr. AshutoshSood, Chief Operating Officer of Thumbay Hospital Dubai.
