Bangalore: Bangalore based start-up, Droit Health has piloted world’s first “technology enabled socionomic healthcare delivery model”. “Droit Health” means “The Right to Health”, and the start-up is focused on navigating the needy and less fortunate through socio-economic disparities hindering accessing quality health care. The company has rolled out a novel business model by co-launching urgent care clinics, personalized pharmacy, telemedicine at one side and micro banking, mobile wallets and micro insurance at the other side.

Droit Health’s pilot clinic at Lakkur , Outskirts of Bangalore was inaugurated by Christian Boehringer , Chairman of Stakeholders Committee of Boehringer Ingelheim and 3rd generation Founding Family Member of one of the globally leading pharmaceutical companies on 10th Jan 2016. Christian Boehringer said “Today, we were able to experience how sophisticated set up could be built up in very minimal area in a rural region of India. We are very excited because one hand we can help for making more health and another we have learnt how to structure our future business on more participatory healthcare from a pharmaceutical company perspective”
Boehringers’s making more Health initiatives, core team members Jean Szolnok and Manuela Pastore along with partners from Asokha Foundation were also present in the occasion.

“Droit Health with its partners devises self-serviced health kiosks, telemedicine units and personalized pharmacy for all the urgent and primary care delivery. We also deployed mobile currency and micro banking for accumulating savings for healthcare needs and other health benefits. Droit is working on a unique business model clubbing health inclusion and financial inclusion” says Dr. Biju Jacob, Droit Health’s Chief Architect and Entrepreneur in Residence, In CITE TBI.

Droit is promoted by International Healthcare and Socionomics Innovation Center , In CITE TBI supported by DST, Ministry of Science and Technology. Dr. Samarth Shetty, Senior Consultant, Mazumdar Shaw Cancer Center and Droit Health Volunteer stated that Droit will jointly deliver health and economic inclusion through Retail Shops and small Kirana shops which is the life line of rural India.

Arpit Mishra, Co-Founder Yolo Health who is one of the Engineers behind the Self Serviced Health Kiosk was excited to share the story of one of the volunteering doctors, explaining the impact of the technology, “Dr. Prathip Kumar, who hails from Berguru nearby to where the Droit Health Pilot is installed always wished to bring quality healthcare to his villagers. After finishing his MD from Armed Forces Medical Centre it was impossible for him to serve his fellow villagers by staying back at the village though he wished and had to take up jobs in private hospitals and now through self-serviced kiosk and telemedicine he has realized his wish”.

Noted Insurance Expert Dr. Sanjay Deodhar , explained Droit health program also brings value additions such as proactive health check-ups, mobile based PHR, treatment compliance, personalized pharmacy etc which is of interest to insurance companies because of less hospitalization and less cost burden on them. It would be interesting to look at introducing new micro insurance models by keeping Droit Clinics as the compliance, annual check-up and adherence hub.
