Gulf Medical University Celebrates 44th UAE National Day

Gulf Medical University (GMU), the leading private medical university in the region owned and operated by Thumbay Group –UAE, celebrated the 44th UAE National Day which falls on 2nd December, with pomp and splendor on Sunday, 29th November 2015. The celebrations, which were held from 4 pm to 6 pm at the University campus was a combination of games, contests, food and fun, which truly reflected the ‘spirit of the union’.

GMU Provost Prof. Gita Ashok Raj was the chief guest of the function. The celebrations started with the UAE national anthem, followed by a cake cutting ceremony led by Prof. Gita Ashok Raj. The Deans of the colleges under GMU as well as the students of the University were present.

The campus was resplendent with hues of green, black, red and white, representing the UAE flag. The celebrations included a variety of games and competitions. Prizes were distributed to the winners.

For the students from over 73 nationalities and staff from over 22 nationalities who constitute the population of GMU, the celebrations were a chance to reaffirm their love for the UAE, which to them is ‘home away from home’.
