Indian Terrain Tour of Nilgiris 2015 concludes at Pollachi, Tamil Nadu

Bengaluru, December 25, 2015: After covering 876 kms over 8 days crossing the states of Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu, 109 riders gathered in the city of Bengaluru for the Champions Dinner of the Indian Terrain Tour of Nilgiris 2015. The evening hosted by Indian Terrain was attended by all riders and their families to celebrate the spirit of the tour as the emcee for the evening, renowned comedian Atul Khatri enthralled the audience with his comic performance.

Indian Terrain Tour of Nilgiris (TfN) 2015 was flagged off from Bengaluru on 16th December and concluded at Pollachi, Tamil Nadu on 23rd December. Riders covered a total distance of 876 kms spanning Mysore – Madikeri – Sultan Bathery, Ooty, Palakkad, Valaparai and Pollachi. The participants rode through three wildlife sanctuaries - Bandipur National Park in Karnataka, Mudumalai National Park in the Nilgiris and Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary in Kerala allowing the riders to experience nature at its best across the most scenic route of South India.

Organized by RideACycle Foundation (RAC-F), a not-for-profit advocacy organization, the event is aimed at promoting Cycling Tourism. Commenting on Indian Terrain TfN 2015, Sridhar Pabbisetty, Co-Founder, RAC-F, said, "It was a delight to watch the riders enjoy the tour. They have shown great determination and discipline in demanding 876 kms stretch that included never ending climbs, testing technical descents, crumbled and potholed roads to super fast urban traffic. The forests provided ample animal sightings including elephants, gaurs, gaint malabar squirrels and wild mongooses."
“The protocol of going through the forests in groups along with escorts ensured no man animal conflict arose and we deeply appreciate the forest department for their advice and guidance.”

Apart from partnering the Tour of Nilgiris as its principal sponsor, Indian Terrain’s CMD, Mr. Venky Rajgopal also participated in the Indian Terrain Tour of Nilgiris 2015. He was quoted saying, “The Indian Terrain Tour of Nilgiris is a life changing ride. It was a superb experience, the volunteers and their flair for putting this together will remain etched in my memory forever.”

The Indian Terrain Tour of Nilgiris 2015 raised over INR 14 laks towards charitable causes. The details are as follows:

Dr. Arvind Bhateja best known as Captain of the Spectrum Racing cycling team along with his cousin Vivek Bhateja has raised INR 10 lakh towards charitable program of Free Spine Surgery at Sita Bhateja Speciality Hospital.

Aditya Mehta Foundation and Iksha foundation have raised over 4 lakhs via riders supporting the cause.

The Indian Terrain Tour of Nilgiris 2015 witnessed some spectacular timings registered by its participants keeping up the competitive spirit of the tour. The results are as under:

· Nils Eigil Bradtberg from Denmark emerged the winner in the under 35 category

· Beinda Viegas Mueller from India emerged victorious in the female category

· Richard Mueller from Germany led the Veteran category

· Lord Venky from India was the fastest in the masters category
