Published On : 29 Jul 2016   |  Reported By : Rons Bantwal

Those finest moments of Attur feast………..!

This is the festival time at St. Lawrence church, Karkala. This lush green divine place has immense blessings of Mother Nature. Since 1757, there is a belief that the prayers offered here will be answered irrespective of cast, creed and religion. People belonging to all religions come and offer their prayers and experience miracles.

In India, unity in diversity is not a new concept. From the beginning our saints preached that all religious bring us towards God. Our saints delivered this great message to the entire world. But today, there are many people busy creating communal conflict. Our religious bodies are helping people to keep themselves away from these destructive groups. The Attur festival is also contributing to communal harmony by attracting people of all religions.

The Vatican came to know about the popularity of St. Lawrence shrine of Attur and now it has been awarded a title as ‘minor basilica’ by Pope Francis. Now, definitely this development has uplifted the trust the devotees had towards St. Lawrence. It is indeed a time to celebrate the joy and double fold the trust.
