The days spent in college seems to be the best of all, all because it was the time spent with friends, teachers by side who would teach, correct and guide us all throughout. But now the days of childhood and fun seems to be over. It appears like there is no room for mistakes, or for immature decisions to take place.

As a school counsellor I am looked upon to solve the client’s concerns. It almost appears like I have magic wand and spells to break off all fear, anxiousness, sadness, troubles, queries and all that they come with. Unfortunately little that they know, their expectations put me in more trouble. Since I know I am placed at a magical chair with so called superficial power to solve all the concerns of the students which once upon a time I too had undergone similar trouble and pain, disliked subjects and faced failure just the way they do now. And today here I am to help them overcome their agitation and concerns. I also come across laughter filled in the room fill the tear that makes another client feel that there is no hope for smile in their lives. However all in turn it turns out to be a driving force to equip myself as a better counsellor.

The student who appears to be the strongest also could be the one with deep down secrets struck their life that has entirely changed their world. The only hope they think they have now is the one sitting in front of them ‘counsellor’. It reminds me of the quote ‘For each client you see, you may be the only person in their life capable of hearing and holding their pain’, if that isn’t scared I don’t know what is.
I’m delighted to take this profession of counselling psychologist as it is a means to serve the society in my own way. One of the means is by helping clients to move from the problem to the solution. Well, here I am today even bolder and so stronger. All credits for this goes to my family, friends and my alma mater, School of Social Work Roshni Nilaya. It indeed is a home away from home. The children may go away from home to grow and flourish but the roots they began from remains intact and so is mine.

I can’t stop thanking my lecturers enough for moulding me and making me what I am today. Once stepped in Roshni Nilaya, mark my words there’s no other college one can ever think of. I may keep moving, opening new doors of opportunities and doing new things and that which keeps leading me down new path but the love for my alma mater is never the path going to be forgotten.

‘Experience is the best teacher but having you as my teacher is the best experience’. I may not say it always but I mean it whenever I say it. Thank you teachers for all the things you have done for me. Thank you for helping me grow.
