Published On : 30 Jun 2015

London, (IANS): Force India’s Formula 1 driver Sergio Perez on Monday said the fast and flowing corners of the Silverstone track of the British Grand Prix, will make the race a great fun.

The British Grand Prix is scheduled to take place this weekend.

Sergio Perez finished the June 21 Austrian Grand Prix in ninth spot, while his team partner Nico Hulkenberg impressed finishing way ahead in sixth spot.

“I really like the Silverstone track, with its fast and flowing corners, which are great fun to drive. There is a lot of history and you feel there is something special from the moment you arrive at the circuit. I always performed well there in the early part of my career and I would love to pick up some points this weekend,” Perez said in a release.

Mercedes Lewis Hamilton is currently leading the Formula 1 standings with 169 points four wins this season. His Mercedes partner Nico Rosberg is in second place with 159 points with three wins this season.

Hulkenberg is placed in the ninth spot with 18 points. Perez is in 12th spot 13 points.

Perez admitted that the last two races were difficult for him but said with the arrival of our upgrade package in Silverstone, it’s going to be an important and busy weekend for the team.

“The last two races have been a bit difficult for me, but we still managed to come away with points in Austria and it was a great performance by the team. With the arrival of our upgrade package in Silverstone, it’s going to be an important and busy weekend for the team as we try to get all the new parts working together,” he said.

The 25-year-old Mexican driver said the weekend’s race will be a special one for team’s factory being just next to the circuit.

“Having our factory next to the circuit makes this a special race for the team. It’s a busy one too with lots going on with all our partners and events for the staff. I used to live close to the track - in Oxford - when I was racing in Formula Three, so this used to be my home race for a while and I still have a lot of friends in the area, which makes the week very enjoyable,” Perez concluded.
