Mangaluru (TOI): A college student in Kundapur was assaulted by an ABVP activist for answering a query of his collegemate on Monday.
Akif, a third-year BCA student of Bhandarkar's College, was allegedly assaulted by Shashikanth Sheregar, 20, a student of the same college. The incident occurred when Akif was coming out of the class with his friend Azaan after an examination. When a girl student of the college asked Azaan about the examination, he remained quiet but Akif replied on his friend's behalf. This was seen by the accused and his friends who were some distance away. After checking his ID card, Shashikanth allegedly assaulted Akif.
Kundapur police said the incident has been noted as a non-cognizable case.
He said the accused appeared to be drunk and was warned.
