Agumbe sizzles at 36.8 degrees Celsius

Mangaluru (TOI): Agumbe in Shivamogga district of Malnad region, once considered Cherrapunji of the South, scorched at 36.8 degrees Celsius on Monday.

The maximum temperature for May month rose by six degrees from average maximum of 30.1 Degree Celsius. This is an all-time record in the last 38 years with a high of 35 degrees Celsius recorded on May 6, 1978 and on May 14, 1985, according to IMD website. However, showers saw the temperature dip by 2 Degree Celsius to 34.8 on Tuesday.

The IMD has predicted thunder showers to continue till May 7.
