All Modi ministers at RSS meet

Published On : 03 Sep 2015

New Delhi, Sept. 2 (The Telegraph): All roads led to Madhyanchal Bhavan in south Delhi for Narendra Modi's ministers today.

Barring the Prime Minister, the entire council of BJP ministers marked their attendance at an annual meeting called by the RSS of all its constituents.

Modi is expected to attend the " samanwaya" (coordination) conclave tomorrow or on Friday, when it concludes.

Although there was no official word about the meeting being held at the Madhya Pradesh government's guesthouse - barring denials of media "speculation" by BJP general secretary Ram Madhav - sources said that economics and the state of the economy dominated the discussions today.

"Views were freely expressed on the importance of having an agro-based economy and on foreign investments, job creation and GDP. The RSS leaders signalled their willingness to be flexible. They also understood and appreciated the constraints within which the government was functioning, including the lack of a majority in the Rajya Sabha," an insider said.

When the session broke for lunch, three senior RSS officials reportedly broached the matter of "one-rank-one-pension" with defence minister Manohar Parrikar and asked what was delaying a decision despite the BJP's endorsement of the policy.
