Mangaluru: In what can be called as Dark Christamas for a family, an auto rickshaw driver fell into a well near his home and lost his life. The incident happened on December 25, when the family was happily celebrating Christmas.
The deceased has been identified as Praveen Pinto (32) He was bringing home Idli and meat which had been prepared at the home of a relative, Allwyn Rodrigues, living a little away from his home, when he accidentally slipped and fell into the open well located in the areca nut plantation. When he fell, his head banged against the concrete ring lining the well as a result of which he suffered serious injuries and drowned.
The firemen could bring the body out of the well on Monday evening. A case was registered relating to this incident at Punjalkatte police station.
