Mangaluru: "BJP leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi are shedding crocodile tears for the Dalits," alleged Rajya Sabha Member Selja Kumari.
Addressing press persons at the District Congress Office she said BJP has been doing the opposite of what it preached on Dalits. "The BJP leaders in reality have no respect for Dalits though they claim to have great respect for the architect of the Constitution Dr B R Ambedkar. The recent Supreme Court ruling on Dalits is a proof to this. Had the Centre acted on time, then there would have been no scope for such a ruling," she said.
The Union government has also failed to put a brake on the atrocities on women and Dalits. Grants in accordance to the population of Dalits are not earmarked neither by the Centre nor the BJP ruled states, she alleged.
