Udupi: Prabhakar Poojary, proprietor of Classic Builders, has reportedly received a threat call in the name of underworld fugitive, Bannanje Raja. Prabhakar Poojary has lodged a complaint with Malpe police in this connection.
Police have taken into custody Katpadi residents, Dhanaraj Malpe and Ullas, and are questioning them. These two are said to be accomplices of underworld element, Bannanje Raja. On Monday the duo called Poojary and asked him to come near Malpe beach. The man informed police personnel of Malpe station, who waited to act near the Malpe beach. The entrepreneur reached there, after which two persons approached him and handed him a cellphone.
The person on the other side introduced himself as Vicky Poojary, and told Poojary that the latter had earned lot of money in the name of Bannanje Raja. He demanded a share in the money he has earned, failing which he was threatened with murder.
