Bus crews workers demand payment of salaries on time

Published On : 16 Apr 2018

Mangaluru: Hanuman Transport Pvt. Ltd. plying buses faced allegations by Company Employees Association that they were not being paid their salaries properly for the last two years and this was causing them a lot of hardship.

Addressing media, Rajasaab H. Nandihalli, president of the association, said that the company management was selling/leasing its buses and permits in the name of supervision. The company had not made its contribution to ESI and Provident Fund for the last eight months.

Some workers had been removed without giving proper notice, while others had been suspended. Documents were being rewritten to the detriment of workers. The workers had told the management that instead of selling/leasing buses and permits to private companies, it should sell them to its own workers, he said.

The association had brought the matter to the notice of the Udupi DC and the Labour Department. The association members were holding an indefinite relay protest from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office since April 9. “If there is no proper response to our demand, we will intensify our agitation in the coming days,” he said.
