CCTV should be installed in all examination centres

Published On : 05 Nov 2016

Mangaluru: According to a department of pre-university education circular reportedly issued last week, it has directed government and private colleges to install CCTVs in all rooms where exams are scheduled to be held in March-April next year. The circular says centres not equipped with CCTV won’t be allowed permission to host the exams.

The state has 930 designated PU exam centres. The DPUE move comes in the wake of the Chemistry question paper leak and other malpractices. These unsavoury incidents threw the exam schedule haywire, besides bringing candidates under repeat examination amid uncertainty.

The department had asked all PU colleges to come under CCTV surveillance. The recent circular is an extension of that," department director C Shikha said. No less than 1,000 centres in the state will be installed with CCTVs.

Private, aided and unaided institutions must install CCTVs at their own cost. The department has sought compliance by January 1, 2017, failing which colleges won’t be allowed to conduct exams, the circular added.
