Udupi: A Maruti-800 car suddenly caught fire when moving near Jodukatte here on Saturday. As the woman who was driving the car and another occupant of the car noticed flames leaping out of the bonnet, stopped the vehicle immediately on the road and walked away to safety, no one was injured.
A youth who realized this, walked to the office of the fire brigade office, which located about half a km from the spot, and alerted them. However by then the car had been charred completely.
The town police arrived on the spot and took up investigation about the ownership of the car, reason for burning and so on.
