Mangaluru: Congress workers came out on the streets to celebrate, in Mangaluru and Udupi after results of the Assembly by-polls in Nanjangud and Gundlupet were out.
MLA J R Lobo said, "Congress party's victory in the by-elections prove that people have accepted the various pro-development works of our government led by chief minister Siddaramaiah. Congress will win the upcoming Assembly elections too."
Congress members and leaders in Mangaluru gathered in front of the district Congress office and raised victory slogans, bursting fire crackers and distributing sweets.
In Udupi also, workers celebrated the victory. Hareesh Kini, Congress leader said that this is a slap on face of BJP. He also said that Udupi MP Shobha Karandlaje has gone missing and has not done any developmental work for Udupi.
