Kasargod: A couple was killed and three others sustained serious injuries in a collision between a car and truck on the national highway at Kanhangad on Saturday May 6. The deceased have been identified as Sanjeevan (45) and his wife Reena (42) of Iritty in Kannur. Sanjeevan was driving the car.
Vijeth (44), Vanaja (40), Reena (42) and Sarang (12) were grievously injured and shifted to a hospital in Mangaluru, where Reena passed away sometime later. The five were returning by car after a visit to Kollur Mookambika Temple when their car collided head-on with a truck that was transporting fish.
The car was completely smashed in the accident. The occupants were trapped inside and fire service personnel who arrived at the spot along with locals brought them out and shifted them to hospital, but Sanjeevan could not be saved.
