Dead body of Hazel Mathias bought back

Udupi: The husband and parents of nurse Hazel Mathia burst into tears as they received her body on Thursday, September 27 at Bengaluru airport. The body of Hazel reached Bengaluru after more than two months since her death. The body was brought to her native place by an ambulance and is placed at present in the mortuary at Manipal.

The body will be taken to the house of Ashwin Mathias, husband of deceased Hazel at Kuthyaru near Shirva in the afternoon of Friday 28 for the last prayers to be offered at the residence. Then the final rites and funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Health Church Shirva.

Preparations for the funeral of Hazel are being made to conduct the last rites at the Shirva church and the same will be held at 4 pm on Friday. According to the information given by Fr Denis D'Sa, parish priest of Shirva church, Bishop of Udupi diocese, Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo will take part in the ceremony.

A compensation of Rs one lac was granted by the NRI committee - Karnataka, a department of the government. Ivan D'Souza, MLC has also confirmed his participation in the funeral.
