Gang posing as CCB rob 2.25 lakhs

Mangaluru: A gang posing as CCB police officials succeeded in decamping with Rs 2.25 lakh from a pan masala shop owner at Bunder area. Yakub is the victim, who runs a pan masala shop on Mission Street in Bunder. Yakub opened the shop at 5.30 am. At around 6.15 am, he kept Rs 2.25 lakh cash in his two-wheeler. He was about to leave for his house for breakfast when five people travelling in a car stopped by and introduced themselves as police personnel attached to the CCB.

They took possession of his two mobile phones and asked him to sit inside the shop. They acted like scrutinising the cell phones and also the scooter belonging to Yakub and then left. Yakub noticed the theft only after he reached home.

On checking the CCTV footage in the area, it was found that the men posing as police personnel had taken away the money from Yakub’s scooter and kept it inside their car. A case has been registered.
