Inter-state gang of temple thieves held

Mangaluru: DCIB Police have nabbed five inter-state thieves allegedly involved in a series of thefts in temples across Dakshina Kannada and have recovered gold jewellery worth 12.5 lakhs from them. They were arrested from Thane in Maharashtra.

The arrested have been identified as Chandrakanth Poojary (36), a resident of Honnavar, Narasimha Raju (38), a resident of Doddaballapur, Naveen Chandra Baan Singh (21), Vijay Suresh (35) and Vishal (21), a resident of Thane, Maharashtra.

Several temple theft cases where reported in past six months in Dakshina Kannada district. Following reliable information, DCIB Police swung into action and nabbed the six thieves.

The operation was carried out by ASP Vedamurthy, ASP Puttur Rishyanth, DCIB Inspector Ammanullah, PSI Khader, PSI Rathan Kumar, ASI Sanjeev Purusha, Uday, Iqbal, Tharnath, Laxman and Praveen.
