Bangalore (DHNS),: The Karnataka State Human Rights Commission (KSHRC) will launch an online portal in a month’s time to enable people to register their complaints about human rights violation.
Speaking after inaugurating the Complaint Handling Management System (CHMS) to the staff members of KSHRC, former Supreme Court judge and member of the National Human Rights Commission Justice Cyriac Joseph said the online portal will help people keep track of their complaints and check the status. “The online system of lodging complaint on human rights violation will definitely bring in accountability and transparency in the way complaints are handled. It will ensure that no complaints are rejected and every victim gets equal justice,” he added.
‘Be conscious of power’
Justice Joseph asked the KSHRC to use its power of lodging suo motu complaints to initiate action against human rights violation. He urged the KSHRC members not to shy away and be conscious of their powers and instill confidence in the minds of the public.It has been two years since KSHRC has no chairperson and is understaffed with 106 staff members working in the commission as against the sanctioned posts of 130. Meera C Saxena, acting chairperson, KSHRC said many people have been asking them to have a district-level representation of the commission. At present all complaints are routed to the office in Bangalore.
Ever since the existence of the commission in 2007, there have been 47,594 complaints registered of which 31,875 have been disposed of. The commission has 15,917 cases pending with nearly 100 fresh cases registered everyday. Two persons from Tumkur, Siddalinge Gowda and Sadiq Pasha have contributed maximum number of complaints to the commission till date. Gowda, a resident of Maralu Dinne, Mavinakere, Turvekere in Tumkur has sent nearly 6,000 complaints to the commission till date.
