Man from Uudpi dies in accident at Oman

Udupi: In a tragic accident which happened at Sultanate of Oman, Prashanth Nayak (40), from near Laxmi Venkatesh Temple at Puttur lost his life. The accident had happened on August 20 but the information came late.

The accident happened when two cars collided with each other and huge fire instantly broke out. Prashanth Nayak, Ankush Sharma, Sushil Rukhayyar, and Gaurav Sharma from Jaipur, who were in one of the cars, and two persons in the other car lost their lives.

Prashanth had earlier worked in Dubai and Muscat. To spend three days Bakrid holiday, he had visited Oman along with friends. The fire had completely charred his body. The identity of the mortal remains was confirmed by matching DNA with that of Prashanth's brother, Jagadeesh Nayak, who works in Muscat.

The family had approached local MLA Raghupati Bhat and external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj seeking help in completing process early.
