Muslims to present Hore Kaanike first

Udupi: Vidyadheesha Tirtha of Palimaru Mutt will be ascending the Paryaya Peetha on January 18, 2018 for second time. He will enter the city on ‘Pura Pravesha’day on January 3, 2018. From the next day, from 4 January the Horakanike begins and this year the first Hore Kaanike (offertory) will be given by the Muslim community.

More than 150 Muslims from the district to participate in the grant procession from Jodu Katte to the Rajangana Parking and over 25 to 30 vehicles will carry food grains, vegetables and other items for worth Rs 50, 000. It will be used for paryaya days.

Ansar Ahammed, convenor of Udupi Zilla Samastha Muslim Bandavara Paryaya Sauhardha Samithi said that Pejawar seer always believed in Muslims and wanted communal peace in the society. This inspired the young Muslims of Udupi to stand united to support the seer on his fifth paryaya in 2016 and re-start the tradition of giving Hore Kaanike to the Mutt.
