Mysuru: Mysuru-Kodagu constituency MP Pratap Simha requested Chief Minsiter H D Kumarswamy to not celebrate Tipu Jayanthi in the state. Speaking during Dasara, he said, "Celebration of Tipu Jayanti is against the culture of the land. Though JD(S)-Congress is a coalition government, celebration of Tipu Jayanti should be stopped. The celebrations of Dasara is a gift of Mysuru Arasas."
Speaking at a programme after offering puja to Chamudi deity and inaugurating Dasara, he said that Tipu Sultan was responsible for the blood shed of such a family. He asked the government to respect Mysuru kings at least now.
Meanwhile Kumarswamy did not speak anything about Tipu Jayanthi.
