Prohibitory orders imposed in Mangaluru city commissionerate

Mangaluru: In the wake of the oath-taking ceremony of chief minister-designate H D Kumaraswamy and trust vote of Congress-JD(S) alliance, prohibitory orders have been imposed in Mangaluru city commissionerate from May 23 to May 24.

Police commissioner Vipul Kumar stated that Mangaluru police commissionerate is communally and politically sensitive. The situation in view of the assembly elections and counting of votes is like burning embers and there are chances of political and communal disturbances after the trust vote.

Therefore, to prevent disturbances in view of swearing-in ceremony on May 23, prohibitory orders under Section 25 of Karnataka Police Act will be enforced from 2 pm on May 23 to 6 pm on May 24 in Mangaluru police station limits to prevent untoward incidents.

Carrying weapons, sticks, knives, swords, blades, guns, bursting of crackers, carrying of explosive substances, celebrations, public rallies, public and political meetings, functions, tools or instruments that throw stones or such items, open slogans that disrupt law and order, degrade the security of the state or incite crimes, singing, music, provocative speeches, use of signs or numbers, preparation of hand bills, chemicals or distributing them are banned during the period.
