Protest condemning rape to be held by District Muslim Okkoota

Udupi: District Muslim Okkoota will organise ‘Walking with Light’, a protest condemning the rape and murder of 8-year-old girl on April 24. Addressing media, Abdul Azeez Udyavar, convenor of the programme said, “Prior to the protest, a procession will be carried out in the evening on the same day at 6.30 pm, which will start from Bhujanga park, Ajjarkad. Followed by the procession, a protest meet will be held at Chitharanjan circle, Udupi.

 

The protest will be held in association with Karnataka Dalit Sangarsha samiti Okkoota, Karnataka Komu Souharda Vedike, International Christian organizations Okkoota, Catholic Sabha, CITU, and Dalita Damanithara Svabhimani Horata Samiti."

“Women are worshipped as God in India, but these inhuman activities are effecting badly on society and the country. Condemning these increased rape and violence against women cases, members of different organizations have decided to stage a protest pressurizing the government to take severe against culprits.

District Muslim Okkoota Muhammed Yasin Malpe, parish priest Fr William Martis, Dalit committee leader Sundar Master, thinker G Rajshekhar, Prashanth Jathanna, Kalkatta Ruzvi and others were present.
