Mangaluru: In a tragic incident, a senior citizen Padmanabha Acharya (79), resident of Krishnapura, was killed after a vehicle knocked him down with force when he was crossing the road. The accident happened at Hosabettu near Suratkal .
Acharya had attended a religious programme organized at Raghavendra Math at Hosabettu on. In the afternoon, he was crossing the road to return home, when a vehicle that was moving towards the city hit him. Acharya suffered serious injuries to his head and back.
The pick-up truck and its driver, Sadiq, have been taken into custody by the police. A case has been registered in the city (north) traffic police station at Suratkal.
