Mangaluru: In an unfortunate incident, a speeding car that was reportedly being driven recklessly jumped over the road divider before hitting a motor bike. The car caused the death of a pedestrian near Thokkottu Kapikad on NH 66 on the night of Tuesday September 27.
The deceased has been identified as Kanwatheertha resident, Gangadhar K M (45). Bhagwan Das, who was riding the motor bike, was seriously injured and is said to be recovering in a hospital in the city.
The car was being driven from Talapady to Thokkottu. The driver lost control over the vehicle as a result of which the car went over the divider near Kapikad before hitting the motor bike that was moving towards Talapady from Thokkottu and also a pedestrian. An angry mob which gathered at the spot soon after the accident was about to damage the car in question, but the police who arrived on time averted any damage.
