Published On : 30 Nov 2018

Mangaluru: District-in-charge minister U T Khader has opposed the privatisation of Mangaluru International airport. U T Khader said, “Plans have been made to privatise Mangaluru International Airport without considering the pros and cons. There have been several recommendations to rename Mangaluru airport in the name of Srinivas Mallya but in this regard no voices are been raised from those who are in the responsible position."

“If the Airport is privatized, then there will be no security for the workers. Till today no explanation has been given on why it is being privatized. State government has spent a lot of money over land acquisition but all of a sudden this move of privatization is wrong. Mangaluru International Airport has developed a lot and has reached to a good position, then why is there a need for privatization,” Khader questioned.

Khader revealed that Chief Minister Kumaraswamy has agreed to grant funds to construct new houses for affected flood victims of Kodagu. Former MLA Abhayachandra Jain, district Youth Congress president Mithun Rai, district Congress president Harish Rai and others were present.
