United Muslim Organisation want action to be against cops over disrespecting Quran

Mangaluru: United Muslim Organisation have condemned that the incident that had hurt the religious sentiments of the Muslim community. They alleged that police showed disrespect to Quran and tore Madrasa books while conducting a search at the house of an accused in connection to the murder of RSS worker Sharath Madivala. Former mayor K Ashraf said that this act has hurt the entire Muslim community. He said that he was not defending the accused, but condemning the act of disrespecting the Quran.

"The police are raided their residence. Kalandar’s family is co-operating with the police in the investigation. But the police are harassing them. Action should be taken against those cops who tore Holy Quran. We are not against Kalandar. If he has been proved guilty, eh should be punished. But attacking his family and showing disrespect to Muslim community is wrong," K Ashraf opined.

Meanwhile SP Sudheer Kumar Reddy denied the allegations and clarified that the police personnel in the search team did not touch any religious book. A video was also shown to media persons of the raid, wherein nothing of this sort happened.
