4 finalists chosen for Konkani poetry recital competition

Udupi: 3 children have been selected in the Udupi preliminaries of Nelson and Lavina Rodricks - Cha Fra DeCosta Memorial Konkani poetry competition organised by Kavita Trust. The competition was held recently at Udupi church school hall.

The event was held in association with 'Uzwad' Konkani fortnightly.

Melvyn Rodrigues, president of Kavita Trust welcomed the gathering and briefed the participants on the rules and regulations of the competition.

Andrew L DCunha, William Pais and Kishore Gonsalves were the judges. Averyl Rodrigues conducted the proceedings.

The Udupi preliminaries of Rohan and Lavita Monteiro - All India Konkani poetry reciting competition for the youth was also held at the same time.

Poet Antony Barkur distributed the certificates to all the participants along with the poetry collection of Vally Vagga titled 'Neketram'.

The finals will be held on November 6 at the World Konkani Centre.

Winners of the Children's category:

1. Alka Pavitra Lewis, Brahmavar
2. Revon Dias, Udupi
3. Roshni Alva, Kuntalnagar

Winners of the youth category:

1. Sara D'Souza, Moodubelle
