Annu Kapoor had struck a chord with viewers and won several awards for his comic performance as a doctor in ‘Vicky Donor’. And now Kapoor is all set to play an eccentric genius scientist in a comedy film, ‘Mangal Ho’ directed by Pritish Chakraborty.
“I play a scientist and it is the first time that I’m getting an opportunity to talk about the film. This scientist is attempting to figure out if there is life on Mangal (Mars). And at the same time, we are trying to find out if there is Mangal (goodness) in life,” said Kapoor with full excitement.
Kapoor had played a North Indian doctor in ‘Vicky donor’ and his humorous dialogues were one of the reasons for the success of the film.
Chakraborty told media, “This doctor is also North Indian. But this scientist is completely mad. So the concepts he envisions, is something that today’s scientists will think 50 years later. The ‘Mangal Ho’ mission is a creation of his imagination. He wants to become the God of Mangal. His ambitious efforts are blocked by everyone but his madness and wildness boosts him to give a try to this unachievable mission."
Chakraborty added, "Mangal Ho' is a musical romantic comedy film which attempts to figure out if Mars can be colonized to start a civilization there."
Kapoor said, “Pritish approached me with immense enthusiasm and confidence about his script and the prospects of the film. His youthful energy and skills prompted me to instantly agree to the film. I just couldn’t refuse.”
Being a science student, Kapoor was fascinated with scientists like Thomas Edison, Madam Curie, Isaac Newton among others. And he deeply reveres the efforts and thinking scientists put in for various inventions which has pushed the welfare of mankind.
"The main theme of Mangal Ho is to send a couple to Mars and form a civilization over there. In real life, people are still working on it but he has already began this mission with this film." said Chakraborty about the story of the film.
Annu Kapoor’s shooting schedule will begin in August. Director Pritish Chakraborthy had previously directed the film, ‘Chal Pichchur Banate Hain’ and is reportedly going to act in ‘Mangal Ho’.
'Mangal Ho' is directed by Pritish Chakraborty is produced by Ascent Films Pvt. Ltd.
