Mumbai: Vishwa Konkani Kendra has constituted two prestigious Awards to be given annually to 1 Distinguished Konkani Gentleman and One Distinguished Konkani Lady for their achievements and contributions. Konkani Organisations with distinguished record of service and achievements can also be considered for these Awards. The Awards, known as “BASTI VAMAN SHENOY PURASKAR”, would consist of a Citation and a Shawl along with a sum of Rupees One Lakh.

The above Awards have been generously sponsored by our Patron Sri T.V. Mohandas Pai in appreciation of the services rendered by Sri Basti Vaman Shenoy to the society in general and to Konkani language, literature and culture in particular.

The criteria for these Awards are attached herewith for your kind perusal and record. A Search and Selection Committee has been constituted to recommend suitable names to the Board of Trustees of Vishwa Konkani Kendra.

As the Chairman of this Committee, I am writing this letter to you to elicit your suggestions for names of suitable persons a Konkani Gentleman / a Konkani Lady / Konkani Organizations - to be considered for these Awards for the year 2014. You may of course make more than one nomination. Self-nominations are also welcome. Please provide whatever relevant information you may possess about the Nominees along with their contact details. As a prominent member of the Konkani Community, your inputs are very valuable to us in this process. We shall also be grateful to you for your giving wide publicity to this communication.
