Maharashtra Governor welcomes Qatari Dhow Fath Al Khair at Gateway of India

The Governor of Maharashtra Ch Vidyasagar Rao accorded a formal reception to the Qatari Dhow ‘Fath Al Khair 2’ coming to Mumbai on a friendly mission at Gateway of India in Mumbai on Saturday ( 24 Oct)

Guardian Minister of Mumbai Subhash Desai, Minister for Housing, Labour and Mining Prakash Mehta, Ambassador of Qatar in India Ahmed Bin Ibrahim Al Abdulla, General Manager of Katara Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti and diplomats from various countries were present.

Extending a welcome to the Qatari Dhow for successfully completing the Doha – Mumbai voyage of 1522 nautical miles, the Governor said the visit had revived the cultural and historic ties between the port cities of Mumbai and Doha.

The Governor said, India has had close relations with Qatar dating back to several centuries. He said, Qatar is home to 600,000 Indians who are contributing to the socio-economic progress and development of Qatar.

Mentioning that India has emerged as a major economic power in the world, the Governor called for further advancing the economic and strategic relations between the two countries.
