10,856 attend Alva’s Pragati on day one

Mangaluru (The Hindu): Alva’s Pragati, the two-day mega placement drive organised by Alva’s Education Foundation, Moodbidri, witnessed 10,856 footfalls on day one on Saturday.

Over 12,000 candidates have registered for the placement drive, of which 2,173 registered on the spot on Saturday. As many as 304 companies are participating in the event, including NMC, Amazon, IBM, Oracle, UAE Exchange, Tesco, Standard Charted and many more.

The main block at Vidyagiri complex is dedicated to job aspirants with graduate, postgraduate and engineering degree holders while the degree block of the campus is allocated to job aspirants with ITI diplomas, PU and SSLC pass. Two employability enhancement centres are set up at Nudisiri Vedike and the main block to assist job seekers.

Inaugurating the fair on Saturday, B.R. Shetty, executive vice-chairman and chief executive officer of Abu Dhabi-based NMC Healthcare, said that one had to give back to society as a beneficiary of society. He said the society had made him a responsible human being even though he came from a poor background.

K. Abhayachandra Jain, MLA, Ganesh Karnik, MLC, foundation chairman Mohan Alva were present.
