226 revenue cases disposed of

Udupi (The Hindu): Many cases relating to the Revenue Department, land acquisition and transport permits have been disposed of by the District Magistrate’s court here.

In a press release issued here on Thursday, Deputy Commissioner R. Vishal, who is also the District Magistrate, said that 226 out of 240 revenue cases had disposed of in 34 court sittings since November, 2014.

Of 181 cases seeking a hike in compensation for land acquired for widening of national highway, all had been disposed in 19 court sittings since February 27. Of 181 cases, orders were passed for increased compensation in 141 cases.

The court sittings of the Regional Transport Authority (RTA) were held six times since November, 2014. In these six sittings, all 306 cases, which were pending for the last three years, had been disposed of.

As many as 52 applications, which had sought revision, also had been disposed of. A total of 268 permits had been granted. As many as 84 applications, which had been submitted after June 6, 2015, were yet to be settled.

The faster disposal of cases had been possible only due to the cooperation of the advocates of Udupi district. Dr. Vishal thanked the advocates, the District Bar Association, the public and office staff for helping in speedy disposal of cases, the release added.


A total of 268 transport permits have been granted
