Udupi (The Hindu):As many as 58 candidates are in the fray for the elections to 23 seats of the newly formed Kaup Town Municipal Council (TMC), on Friday, the last date for withdrawal of nomination papers.
According to a press release issued by the Deputy Commissioner’s office here, the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party have fielded 23 candidates each, while the Janata Dal (Secular) has fielded five candidates. The Social Democratic Party of India had fielded four candidates, while three independent candidates are also trying their luck.
The elections would be held in Kaup on April 24. The counting of votes would be taken up on April 27.
