All tourist spots in Udupi district to be spruced up

Udupi (The Hindu): Deputy Commissioner Priyanka Mary Francis has said that cleanliness drive will be taken up in all tourist spots in the district from September 20 to 23 as part of the World Tourism Day celebrations on September 27.

Chairing a meeting at the District Offices Complex here, Ms. Francis said government departments should involve voluntary organisations and youth associations in this drive.

The Tourism Day programmes will be inaugurated at the Kattale Basadi in Barkur on September 26. Various competitions will be held for school and college students on the theme of tourism.

The revamped website on tourism in the district, an app focusing on tourism, and also radio jingles promoting tourism will be released by Pramod Madhwaraj, Minister, on the same day.

On September 27, a programme ‘A village life experience’ will be held at Moodakudru village where folk dances, Dollu Kunita, and camp fire, will be held, Ms. Francis added.
