Gadag, (DHNS): State BJP president B?S?Yeddyurappa on Tuesday charged that 7 tmcft of dead storage water from the Almatti dam has been supplied to Jindal industries during drought and Water Resources Minister M?B?Patil is involved in large-scale irregularities in the moderinsation works of Malaprabha and Ghataprabha canals.

Addressing a press conference during his drought study tour here, he said Patil will lose his position if a probe is conducted into the irregularities. “The engineers had prepared a project report for Rs 400 crore for the modernisation of the canals. But Patil exerted pressure on them to increase the project cost to Rs 800 crore. The chief engineer, who did not agree with him, was transferred within 24 hours.”

Yeddyurappa demanded that the details of the project, contractors, the project agreement and shares of the minister and the chief minister in the project cost should be made public. The chief minister is claiming that his government is a scam-free one. But, this daylight robbery has not come to his notice, the BJP leader ridiculed.

Referring to IAS officer Anura Tewari’s mysterious death in Uttar Pradesh, he said honest IAS officers are not safe in the state. The truth will come out after the CBI probe, he said.
